RECONSTRUCTION OF LATGALES STREET IN LUDZA

The reconstruction of Latgales Street in Ludza was carried out along the stage from Krāslavas Street to Stacijas Street (stage length:1.69 km). These works were carried out under the auspices of the Project “Setting Traffic Infrastructure in Order to Facilitate Access to the City of Ludza and Surrounding Territories”. The objective of the project was to facilitate the formation of functional links between the District of Ludza and its adjoining territories, as well as to consolidate the competitiveness of Ludza District Council as a centre of development, as well as to improve the accessibility of public services and the mobility of the population.

Under the auspices of the project, the following road building works were carried out: reconstruction of crossings, approach roads and slip roads, installation of pedestrian crossings, road surface construction, pavement construction, reconstruction of public transport stops, and installation of rainwater drainage infrastructure and street lighting. The reconstruction of Latgales Street resolved the all–encompassing problems concerning this stage of the existing transit road and its crossing, approach road and slip road. As a result of the reconstruction project, a quality contemporary and safe street has been established with related infrastructure, which corresponds to the intensity of traffic and the relevant types of traffic. The reconstruction of Latgales Street has also facilitated the accessibility of public services, because the road is used to access the kindergarten, civic hall, district council building, hospital and polytechnic.
